Morriston Hospital in Swansea is facing a bleak day for both its employees and patients on this Thursday morning.
There are 85 people waiting for a bed, eight ambulances lining up outside, and one patient who has been sitting on a hard plastic chair for forty-four hours.
We are here to observe the hospital’s internal operations, the impact it has on patients, and how hard the staff works to keep the system running.
We’ll meet several patients who have been in the hospital’s crowded, noisy, windowless emergency room for several days, where the bright lights are on all day and all night.
One of them, Simon Morris, has had cellulitis in his legs and has been on a cart for the past four days.
