Concerned about the backlash to the removal of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf MPs from Parliament, Speaker of the National Assembly Ayaz Sadiq said he might have to decide whether to stay in his position.
This occurred when Sheikh Waqas Akram, a PTI politician, brought up the subject of party leaders’ arrests in Parliament earlier this week.
Nine PTI leaders were taken into custody by the federal capital police on Monday. Following the National Assembly session, they took them. The PTI leaders were accused of breaking the terms of the contract that was struck prior to Sunday’s demonstration. They are accused of disrupting government functions, committing damage, and breaking CrPC Section 144, which forbids gatherings of more than five individuals.
