ISLAMABAD: Speaker of the National Assembly Ayaz Sadiq established a special committee on Saturday to look into “misogynist” comments made by MNA Iqbal Afridi of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) at a standing committee meeting the previous day.
MNA Afridi criticized the outfit of a power utility representative during a meeting of the National Assembly Standing Committee on Power on Friday. She demanded that representatives of the legislature conform to the modest clothing code that is observed by female members.
“Chairman, the woman’s attire is inappropriate,” said Afridi, expressing his distaste of the way the meeting was being run. The National Assembly committee ought to have a standard operating process on clothing code.
But other members of the ruling parties and those in attendance during the session, like as the Information Minister, sharply criticized the PTI politician.
