The freshly reelected prime minister of India, Narendra Modi, and three-time former premier Nawaz Sharif exchanged a rare welcome on the social networking platform X. Despite difficulties in the most recent polls, Nawaz Sharif, the President of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), congratulated Modi on winning a third term.
“Congratulations to Modi Ji on taking up his third term in office. Nawaz posted on his official X Twitter, “Your party’s victory in the most recent elections reflects the confidence of the people in your leadership.” In his words, “Let us seize the opportunity to shape the destiny of the two billion people of South Asia and replace hate with hope.”
Thanking Nawaz for his message, Modi replied, “Nawaz Sharif, I appreciate your message. India’s citizens have long been supporters of progressive ideals, safety, and peace. His emphasis was also on the fact that “our people shall always remain our priority.”
While the two leaders engaged in diplomatic relations on X, Modi also replied to Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Nawaz’s younger brother. PM Shehbaz wished everyone a happy birthday, to which Modi responded, “Thank you @cmshehbaz for your good wishes.”
