Amid protests by the Balcoh Yakjehti Committee (BYC), Defense Minister Khawaja Asif stated Monday that Nawaz Sharif, the president of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), should be involved in resolving the Balochistan issue.
“Nawaz has already stated his desire to discuss the issue, but he is presently resting under medical advice. After Eid, he could play a more active role,” the defense minister stated during an appearance on the “Capital Talk” show on news.
His remarks come after protests in Karachi and shutter-down strikes in other Balochistani cities over the recent arrests of BYC leadership and the suppression of its Qetta sit-in.
