In preparation for heavy rain in Sindh and Punjab on August 26 and 29, the National Disaster Management Authority’s (NDMA) National Emergency Operations Center (NEOC) warned pertinent departments on Saturday to remain vigilant.
“While most of Punjab, including the Potohar region, Rawalpindi, Gujranwala, Lahore, Sheikhupura, Kasur, Sialkot, Sargodha, Faisalabad, and Multan, expect isolated rainfalls on occasion, a strong system is active over parts of Sindh and may result in heavy downpour in short duration,” the statement read.
The authorities issued a warning, stating that flash floods could result from the heavy rains in the local nullahs/streams and hill torrents in DG Khan Rawalpindi, Gujranwala, Lahore, Sheikhupura, Kasur, Sialkot, Sargodha, Faisalabad, and Multan.
In the meantime, Dadu’s low-lying districts and the coast of Makran could see coastal flooding.
