Due to fuel cost adjustments (FCA), the National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) has announced a decrease in electricity rates for K-Electric (KE) customers and ex-Wapda distribution companies (DISCOs).
Discos have reduced their tariffs by Rs1.2283 per unit for December 2024, and K-Electric customers would receive a decrease of Rs1.23 per unit for November 2024.
Electricity bills for February 2025 will reflect these changes, providing some respite to those who are struggling with rising power prices due to inflation.
The $350 billion economy has shrunk twice in recent years due to record-high inflation, and unaffordable tariffs have sparked social unrest and closed enterprises.
Nepra claims that the majority of consumer groups will be affected by this FCA cut, with the exception of lifeline customers and domestic users using up to 300 units.
