According to individuals who spoke to news, the chairman and members of the National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) have lavishly given themselves a 220% pay increase without the consent of the federal cabinet or other competent authorities, in a startling abuse of power.
Nepra sources claim that the pay increase, which ranged from Rs2 million to Rs2.2 million, was implemented without according to the required procedure.
According to sources, six-figure incomes were occasionally increased to seven figures under the guises of regulatory allowance and ad hoc relief without the necessary federal cabinet permission.
A updated announcement from October 2023 states that the entire compensation, including all benefits, has now surpassed Rs1 million.
