Customers would receive a total refund of about Rs10 billion for August 2024 as a result of the National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (Nepra) approving a negative adjustment of 86 paisa per unit in the Fuel Charges Adjustment (FCA) for Distribution Companies (Discos).
This ruling comes after the Central Power Purchasing Agency–Guaranteed (CPPA-G) requested a 55.75 paisa per unit decrease for the 12,752 GWh of electricity used, or approximately Rs7 billion in reimbursements. Customers’ electricity bills for October 2024 will reflect this relief.
Inconsistencies in the tariff for bagasse-fired plants were observed throughout the discussions, and some Nepra members voiced their displeasure at the exorbitant rates granted for these plants without sufficient consumer input.
