In their final group encounter on Monday, New Zealand defeated Pakistan 54 runs to go to the Women’s T20 World Cup semi-finals thanks to some excellent bowling from Amelia Kerr and Eden Carson.
In 11.4 overs, New Zealand bowled out Pakistan for only 56 runs, thanks to the efforts of off-spinner Carson, who was named player of the match. Kerr finished with 3-14 while Carson took 2-7 from her three overs.
After winners Australia, who placed first in Group A, New Zealand emerged as the second side from the group to reach the last four, scoring 110-6 from 20 overs.
Pakistan’s chances of qualifying were ended by the loss, which also meant that India was out as a result of their initial 58-run loss against New Zealand.
