A joint departmental meeting between the National Highway Authority (NHA) and the Frontier Works Organization (FWO) was presided over by Federal Minister for Privatization and Investment Board and Communications Abdul Aleem Khan. Important decisions were made with the goal of improving the effectiveness and safety of Pakistan’s road infrastructure.
Federal Minister Abdul Aleem Khan stressed the importance of coordinated mutual policies between FWO and NHA at the meeting.
Abdul Aleem Khan directed the implementation of a national motorway-style policy, prohibiting undue axle weights on Grant Trunk GT Roads. To guarantee compliance, weighing stations for large trucks must be set up on GT Roads.
The minister advocated for the introduction of “e-challan” systems to punish moving infractions including speeding, failing to buckle up, and using a mobile device while driving.
