Folashade, the eldest daughter of Mr. Tinubu, is married to Oyetunde Oladimeji Ojo.
President Tinubu has never before chosen a relative to hold a position in the federal administration.
The president stated that Mr. Ojo had “over a decade of work experience in the housing and hospitality industries” when announcing his nomination.
In the past, he served in the House of Representatives.
However, there has been a lot of discussion on social media, with some claiming that Mr. Ojo was not as worthy or qualified as other contenders.
“Overt nepotism is a sign of poor leadership. One reader wrote on X, “It’s unfortunate that Nigerian leaders don’t view it as a form of ethical failure.”
Some have spoken out in favor of Mr. Ojo’s appointment, arguing that his closeness to the president shouldn’t prevent him from holding public office.
The president’s decision to restructure the housing ministry’s management included his appointment.
The ministry’s FHA is tasked with assisting in the distribution of reasonably priced housing throughout Nigeria.
