An explosion that targeted security guards polio vaccines in Balochistan’s Mastung district on Friday claimed the lives of at least nine people, including five students and a police officer.
The event happened in Mastung’s Civil Hospital Chowk, next to the Girls High School.
Following notification, emergency personnel and police raced to the scene and transported the corpses and injured to the hospital for medico-legal procedures. Soon after the explosion, the bomb disposal team also arrived on the scene and began gathering evidence.
33 injured individuals, the majority of whom were youngsters, were receiving treatment at DHQ and Nawab Hospital in Mastung, the hospital administration noted in a statement. The pupils who passed away, including boys and girls, ranged in age from 10 to 13.
