Nita Ambani, the owner of the Mumbai Indians (MI), disclosed that she paid barely $10,000 for all-rounder Hardik Pandya at the 2015 IPL auction.
Hardik, who was not well-known at the time, is now the captain of the Mumbai Indians and is one of the best cricket players in India.
Nita Ambani talked about her experience spotting young cricket talent at a recent event in Boston. She remembered going to domestic games with her scouting staff, sometimes in deserted stadiums, to find players who showed promise and tenacity.
They met Hardik and his brother Krunal Pandya as a result of one such incident. She recalled meeting the two, who had been living off of Maggi noodles for years due to financial hardship. But they were particularly committed and driven to succeed.
