In an attempt to combat stunting and malnutrition in the state, online users have wrongly claimed that Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz had stopped a program that gave free milk to elementary school students.

A social media user on X (formerly Twitter) wrote on August 25: “Breaking news. The initiative to give kids in schools free milk has been put on hold until the next year.

Reality
The Punjab School Nutrition Program, which the Chief Minister declared during his budget statement earlier this year, has not been canceled. Actually, it was introduced in the Dera Ghazi Khan district on September 5. Numerous news networks carried coverage of the tragedy.
