According to the UK’s National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC), the “Andariel” gang has been infiltrating organizations globally in an effort to obtain confidential and classified technical information as well as intellectual property data.
The National Intelligence Service of South Korea, the FBI in the US, and the Center have all released a joint warning and advisory note regarding Andariel’s actions.
Organizations that support critical infrastructure have been encouraged to “stay vigilant” against these cyberattacks.
The US government is offering a reward of up to $10 million (£7.7 million) to anyone who can provide information that aids in the discovery of members of ISIS.
Since around 2009, the US State Department’s Rewards for Justice program has been searching for North Korean national Rim Jong Hyok, who is connected to Andariel.
Anyone who assists in identifying or tracking down Rim or any other actors who are discovered to be targeting the US will be eligible for a reward.
Andariel concentrates her espionage efforts on governments, military institutions, and defense companies.
