Authorities in the South have issued an order to its citizens to remain indoors after North Korea dropped at least 260 balloons with trash there.
The military of South Korea also issued a warning to the public, stating that the white balloons and the plastic bags tied to them are filled with “filthy waste and trash” and should not be touched.
The balloons are currently undergoing analysis after being discovered in eight of South Korea’s nine regions.
Both North and South Korea have used balloons in their propaganda efforts since the Korean War in the 1950s.
The military of South Korea had previously declared that it was looking into the possibility that the balloons contained North Korean propaganda materials.

The interior of the ROK and its border regions will soon be covered in mounds of wastepaper and dirt, and it will soon become apparent how much work is involved in getting rid of them.” In a statement to state media on Sunday, Kim Kang Il, North Korea’s vice minister of defense, said.
The official name of the North is the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea, or DPRK, while the official name of South Korea is the Republic of Korea, or ROK.
