According to a report published on Sunday by state media news, North Korea tested a strategic cruise missile on Saturday.
The report said the test was supervised by Kim Jong Un, the nation’s leader, and was a test-fire of a “important weapon system.”
The 1,500-kilometer-long underwater-to-surface strategic cruise missiles flew for 7,507–7,511 seconds before striking their objectives.
North Korea’s foreign ministry promised the “toughest counteraction” against the US as long as Washington “refuses” Pyongyang’s sovereignty, according to a separate news report on Sunday.
In a statement reported by KCNA, the ministry blamed the rising tensions in the region on the military alliance and joint exercises between South Korea and the US.
