According to authorities, Norway’s royal princess’s eldest son has been taken into custody on suspicion of rape.
Marius Borg Hoiby is the stepson of Crown Prince Haakon, the heir apparent to the Norwegian throne, and the son of Princess Mette-Marit from a previous relationship.
A preliminary charge of having “sexual intercourse with someone who is unconscious or for other reasons unable to resist the act” led to Borg Hoiby’s arrest in Oslo late Monday.
The 27-year-old has no official responsibilities or royal title. The local media said that he refuted the accusation.
Police can hold a person while they conduct an investigation by filing preliminary charges before filing final ones.
Police merely stated that “the victim must have been unable to” but did not specify when the alleged rape took place.
