Police said they were contacted after concerns were expressed about the safety of persons at a property on Hartley Road in Radford at 11.04 a.m. on Tuesday.
Officers gained entry to the home and discovered two bodies inside.
There have been no arrests, and the cause of death for the women remains unknown.
According to Detective Chief Inspector Ruby Burrow of Nottinghamshire Police, there is “no immediate risk to the public”.
“We are maintaining an open mind about what transpired at this house and will be working hard over the following few days to discover how and when these two women lost.
