According to Sir Martyn Oliver, he is particularly concerned about the growing trend of “flexi-schooling,” in which parents teach their kids part of the week at home.
The number of kids being taught this way is unclear.
Education is being placed “back at the forefront of national life” by the government, according to the Department for Education (DfE).
Attendance problems have “deepened” since the outbreak, according to Ofsted’s annual report.
Citing the most recent DfE data, it stated that around 158,000 youngsters missed at least half of their classes during the fall and spring terms of the previous academic year.
Over 25% of students in Knowsley were classified as habitually missing, which means they missed at least 10% of the academic year.
Plymouth, Bristol, Torbay, Sunderland, Bradford, Middlesbrough, and Blackpool
