As the first female chief minister of Pakistan to visit the neighboring nation, Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif arrived in Beijing on Sunday on an official eight-day visit.
The provincial chief executive was greeted by Chinese Communist Party delegates, Pakistan Ambassador to China Khalil Hashmir, and other high-ranking officials at the Beijing airport.
Senior provincial ministers Pervaiz Rasheed, Marriyum Aurangzeb, Azma Bokhari, Bilal Akbar, and Ashiq Kermani were among the high-level delegation that followed CM Maryam.
She met with a high-ranking Communist Party of China delegation after arriving.
Speaking at the event, Maryam said she wanted Beijing’s help to help Punjab reach new financial and economic heights. “Bilateral relations between China and Pakistan were deteriorating to an extreme.”
