On August 28, trade unions all throughout Pakistan announced a total shutdown in opposition to the country’s high taxes, growing energy costs, and contentious agreements with Independent Power Producers (IPPs).
Numerous trade associations have expressed strong support for the statement, and many have vowed to keep up their struggle until their demands are fulfilled.
The Central Organization of Trade Unions of Pakistan’s President, Kashif Chaudhary, voiced the annoyance of business owners and entrepreneurs, saying, “We are unable to continue paying these outrageous electricity bills and onerous taxes.” Since our livelihoods are on the line, we will not stop until these problems are resolved.”
The nation’s commercial center, Karachi, has unanimously endorsed the strike among all significant industrial districts. delegates from Nikati, Kati, Lati, Fabati, Site, and the Karachi Chamber of Commerce have all rallied behind the call for a shutdown.
