“My brother Nick was a wonderful man,” Starmer stated in a statement.
“He handled every obstacle life threw at him with bravery and a sense of humor. He will be sorely missed.
According to reports, Starmer had intended to take a vacation but will instead remain in the area.
“I would like to thank all those who treated and took care of Nick,” Starmer stated.
“Their skill and compassion are very much appreciated.”
Nick Starmer failed to maintain stable employment and had learning impairments as a result of birth problems.
The prime minister’s biographer, Tom Baldwin, told BBC Radio 5 Live that Starmer had visited Nick in the hospital in Leeds on numerous occasions.
