On September 6, Defence Day, the Pakistan Navy is preparing for two key inductions that would significantly enhance its capabilities.
According to sources, the Pakistan Navy will concurrently induct PNS Hunain, an OPV (Offshore Patrol Vessel) built in Romania, and PNS Babur, a frigate of the Babur class built in Turkey.
President Asif Ali Zardari will be the chief guest during the occasion.
First in class, PNS Babur was laid down on June 4, 2020; it was launched on August 15, 2021, and it was put into service on September 23, 2023.
Under a deal between Pakistan and Turkey, the Babur-class frigates with vertical launch systems are being constructed. Two ships are being built in Karachi and two in Istanbul.
