ISLAMABAD: President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif have reiterated their commitment to democracy on the International Day of Democracy, calling for greater fairness and inclusivity worldwide.
Since its founding in 2007, September 15 has been designated as Democracy Day. This year, the event is themed around the value of AI as a tool for good government.
UN Secretary-General António Guterres has once again urged maximizing AI’s advantages while reducing its hazards.
Declaring that a dynamic and inclusive democratic process was the key to resolving the country’s problems, President Zardari reaffirmed his commitment to democracy.
“We celebrate Democracy Day to draw attention to how crucial democracy is to enabling people and encouraging their active engagement in the political process,” he stated.
