On Friday, October 13, 2018, Hannah and Mathew Parfitt, residents of Pontypridd, Rhondda Cynon Taf, exchanged vows in a room that was formerly used to drop coffins prior to cremation.
With the curtains closed and candles, Hannah, in her black gown, and Mathew, in his crimson tie decorated with skulls, exchanged vows.
“We did want to get married on Halloween, but it always rains really badly on Halloween every year,” Hannah, 27, said.
Then, by coincidence, Friday the 13th appeared on our calendar, and because we intended to tie the knot in October, it seemed ideal.”
Arnos Vale, a legal wedding site and Victorian cemetery in Bristol, was the couple’s preferred location.
Hannah’s dress was designed by alternative wedding dress designer Samantha Buca, who stated that fall is when many people choose to get married and wear black wedding dresses.
However, I recently completed a black dress for an Ibiza wedding. She remarked that, thus, there is no longer any right or wrong in marriage.
Samantha stated that she didn’t actually think the Friday 13th superstition was real.
“[But] I tend not to get people booking in to look at wedding dresses or picking up their dresses up on Friday 13th, because obviously there’s that negative connotation,” she stated.
