ISLAMABAD: Stressing the need of creating a bright future for the children and the nation, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has urged the people to support the government’s efforts to promote literacy and ensure education for everyone.

In a statement on Sunday, International Literacy Day, the prime minister stated, “Literacy is a fundamental human and constitutional right that guarantees the future of our country.”

Every year on September 8, we commemorate Literacy Day to raise awareness among legislators of the vital role that literacy plays in society. “Promoting multilingual education: Literacy for mutual understanding and peace” is this year’s topic of the day.

According to the premier, literacy is more than just being able to read and write; it’s a key to self-determination, career options, and social engagement.
