The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) will issue the polling schedule for the presidential election on March 1.
According to an ECP spokeswoman, all of the assemblies will be formed by February 29, followed by the electoral college, which is essential for the President’s election.
“The schedule and public notice of the election of the President will be issued on March 1,” the spokesperson went on to say.
Nomination papers
Starting today (Tuesday), presidential candidates can receive nomination papers.
“Papers can be obtained from the Election Commission, as well as the four Provincial Election Commissioners,” said an ECP official.
“On March 1, a public notice will be issued specifying the polling day. Candidates are entitled to submit their nomination papers till 12:00 on March 2,” he added.
Gohar Khan, chairman of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Isnaf (PTI), stated that no other party is entitled to the Sunni Ittehad Council’s reserved seats.
“Every ruling of the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) did not defend our constitutional rights. “There will be no session until the reserved seat decision is made,” he asserted.
PTI chairman Gohar Khan claimed that the Punjab Assembly session was held ‘illegally’, and that the National Assembly session, slated for February 29, will likewise be held illegally.
