In honor of Baba Guru Nanak, the founder of Sikhism, the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) has released a unique commemorative coin valued at Rs55 to commemorate his 555th birthday.
According to a statement from the SBP, the coin weighs 13.5 grams and has a diameter of 30 mm. It is made of a combination of copper, brass, and nickel.
A crescent moon and a five-pointed star facing northwest in a rising posture are featured in the middle of the coin’s obverse side, along with the inscription “Islamic Republic of Pakistan” written in Urdu. The year 2024 is displayed below the crescent and atop two wheat springs with upward-curving limbs. Face values “55” and “ruppia” are bolded on the coin.
