Earlier this month, the Court of Arbitration for Sport acknowledged that Pogba’s consumption of a prohibited substance “was not intentional,” reducing his four-year sentence to 18 months.
In February, Italy’s national anti-doping tribunal (Nado) suspended the 31-year-old after a drug test revealed high levels of testosterone, a hormone that boosts stamina.
“This is not me, I’m not a cheater,” Pogba said to Sports.
“I love the game and I’m passionate about my sport, and I would never cheat. I prefer to win in a fair manner.
The reduced ban started on September 11, 2023, with sources close to the Pogba telling Sport that he can resume training in January and will be eligible to play again in March.
“I take some responsibility because I took the supplement, ” Pogba added.
“I didn’t triple check, let’s say it like that, even if it came from a professional. If I have to be punished, I am fine with it, but it should never be four years.
