The Pakistani ministry of health announced on Monday that one case of the clade 2 strain of the mpox virus had been found there; no cases of the clade 1b strain had been identified.
Because Clade 1b appears to spread more readily through regular close contact, it has caused concern throughout the world. The first indication of the variant’s international spread was last week’s confirmation of a case in Sweden, which was connected to an expanding outbreak in Africa.
The ministry of national health services’ spokesperson, Sajid Hussain Shah, stated that there haven’t been any documented cases of clade I in Pakistan as of yet.
