Following an emergency meeting in Islamabad, the Grand Opposition Alliance resolved to go ahead with the September 8 rally as scheduled.
At a news conference, Alliance leader Raoof Hasan announced the decision and disclosed plans for additional rallies in Karachi on September 12 and Lahore on September 22. The 12 opposition parties that are a part of the Alliance will plan these protests.
A committee led by Mahmoud Khan Achakzai was also formed during the meeting to deal with the situation in Balochistan. Within a week, the committee will traverse the entire nation and deliver its recommendations.
Hasan announced that in order to address the problem of terrorism in Balochistan, the Alliance will call an All-Parties Conference (APC).
