Malik Ahmed Bhachar has been selected as the opposition leader in the Punjab Assembly, while Moeen Riaz Qureshi has been named as the deputy opposition leader.
According to Sahibzada Hamid Raza, Mian Aslam Iqbal, who was initially nominated for the position of opposition leader, was not permitted to take the oath of office as MPA. As a result, the new nominations were decided after consulting with Mian Aslam and Imran Khan, the founder of PTI.
He went on to say that Bhachar was nominated to the role on a temporary basis to ensure effective opposition representation.
