Over 100 people, including children, have been evacuated, and a “significant search and rescue operation” is underway.
According to a 2023 planning proposal, the building had “non-compliant” cladding installed.
When the fire started, the scaffolding around the structure was there to remove the cladding.
About 225 firefighters and 40 fire engines arrived, and plumes of smoke shot upward.
After the first personnel were dispatched at 2.44 am, emergency services arrived at the tower block in five minutes.
According to the London Ambulance Service, two victims were brought to a hospital and four patients received treatment on the spot.
The fire damaged the entire structure, including the roof and the scaffolding that surrounded it.
Although the source of the fire is still unknown, it has been deemed a significant event.
The building was being used by Dinesh Raj’s daughter and a friend for a sleepover when the fire started.
Mr. Raj stated to the News, “I came and picked them up after receiving a call at around three in the morning.
“I was able to bring my friends and daughter home.” Everybody is secure.
“I believe that about three in the morning, they noticed smoke and discovered there was a fire.
“They were able to take my daughter and the infant, who was six months old at the time, and flee the building.
