After they allegedly discovered drug smugglers using Elon Musk’s Starlink satellite internet gadget to traverse Indian waterways and arrive at the country’s beach, Indian police say they have contacted the company for information.
Superfast internet access is offered “almost anywhere on Earth” via Starlink.
However, it is currently not authorized to offer coverage in India or its territorial seas.
The Indian Coast Guard reported last week that they had discovered the gadget on a boat they had seized from Myanmar close to the Andaman and Nicobar islands.
According to authorities, this was the Coast Guard’s largest drug bust to date. 6,000 kilograms (13,227 lb) of methamphetamine were allegedly taken from the yacht. According to police, it was valued $4.25 billion (£3.35 billion).
