Nathan Shepherd, a defensive tackle for the Saints, grabbed the quarterback’s leg just after Herbert delivered the ball and awkwardly dragged him down. Shepherd was given the business over the move by Chargers center Bradley Bozeman, who took issue with his performance.
Herbert seemed to be all right. In the victory, he threw for 279 yards and two touchdowns. After the game, however, Bozeman stoked the move.
According to reports, Bozeman remarked, “I think it was one of the dirtier plays I’ve ever seen.” No matter what, you defend your quarterback. And I believe that any of our offensive linemen in my shoes would have followed suit.
