Lisa Nandy, the culture secretary, called the sale of inflated Oasis tickets “incredibly depressing” and announced that surge pricing would be examined by the government as part of its assessment of the secondary concert sales market.
In an attempt to secure tickets for one of the reunion performances scheduled for next year, fans of the globally recognized band spent hours on Saturday sitting in virtual lines.
After navigating the two lines and long waits, many discovered that the cost of their tickets exceeded their face value.
On social media, some people vented their rage at the £148 tickets being offered for £355 on it.
Speaking over the weekend, Ms. Nandy declared that a government consultation would be held to examine these matters as well as the “technology around queuing systems which incentivize it.”
“It’s depressing to see vastly inflated prices preventing ordinary fans from having a chance to enjoy their favorite band live, especially after the incredible news of Oasis’s return,” the woman stated.
