The two were shot dead in front of a Durban restaurant a year ago in a shocking murder that took place throughout South Africa.
Although no reason was given, police claimed that hitmen had been bribed to attack AKA.
Throughout his career, he had a number of hits, including one with Burna Boy of Nigeria.
On Thursday, the suspects—all of whom are under 36—are expected to appear in court.
“It was clear that AKA was monitored from the airport and Tibz was not the intended target in the murder on Florida Road in Durban,” KwaZulu-Natal provincial leader, Lt Gen. Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi.
He claimed that each of the six accused defendants had a distinct role to perform in the scheme to kill AKA.
Two gunmen who opened fire on the victims, two spotters who trailed AKA from the airport in Durban, the person who located the weapons used in the ambush, and the mastermind are among the suspects currently in custody.
Not related to these killings, several of the suspects are also connected to unrelated murder cases.
After an Interpol operation over the weekend, two of the men were discovered in a hideout in neighboring Eswatini.
