LONDON: On Friday, the governments of Pakistan and the UK inked a letter of intent (LOI) to work together on criminal justice and law enforcement cooperation.
The LOI was signed in the presence of UK Home Secretary James Cleverly and Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi. Pakistan’s government’s High Commissioner, Dr. Muhammad Faisal, signed the letter.
The LOI particularly covers the concerns of combating organized crime related to immigration and illegal migration, as well as looking into potential future partnerships that would benefit both nations.
Additionally, it will make it easier for law enforcement agencies in Pakistan and the UK to communicate with one another in support of their cooperative efforts to combat transnational crime, which includes drug control, major criminal investigations, and organized immigration crime.
Under the implementation structure, a joint steering committee will supervise the partnership.
