In an effort to improve the nation’s EV infrastructure, the Pakistani government has proposed a substantial 45% cut in the power cost for EV charging stations.
This decision was revealed by Federal Energy Minister Awais Ahmad Leghari during a news conference on January 15 to announce the nation’s first electric vehicle charging policy, which will lower the tariff from Rs71.10 to Rs39.40 per unit.
There isn’t a strong network of electric vehicle charging stations in Pakistan, and there aren’t many in big cities like Karachi and Lahore.
The high cost of electricity and the lack of laws have made it difficult to create charging stations around the country, Leghari said, underscoring the government’s commitment to facilitating access to electric vehicles.
