KARACHI: The three departments that make up the Pakistan Civil Aviation Authority (PCAA) are the Bureau of Aircraft Safety Investigation (BASI), Pakistan Airports Authority (PAA), and PCAA. Each department has been given a distinct set of responsibilities.
All commercial airports are now within the PAA’s jurisdiction, and BASI will be handling aviation accident investigations. The aviation authority will include the departments of flight standards, pilot licensing, aerodrome airspace, airworthiness, air transport, and aeromedical as well as all regulatory departments currently under the PCAA.
The PAA and BASI were established, according to separate announcements from the Ministry of Aviation dated August 9, 2024.
