Pakistan is contemplating the creation of a “Pharma Economic Zone” with the support of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) and the Shanghai International Financial Center. The objective of this endeavor is to encourage investment in the pharmaceutical sector and advance medical tourism.
With this project, the government hopes to establish a medical health city with extensive medical services. Under the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), Pakistan is already developing special economic zones, one of which may be devoted to the pharmaceutical sector.
This initiative’s main goals are to boost medical tourism and attract foreign investment in the pharmaceutical industry, particularly from China. Chinese investment in the pharmaceutical zone is anticipated to be made easier by the project, which could enhance Pakistan’s healthcare system.
The administration is also thinking of deregulating the cost of medical goods in order to draw in investment.
