Over the previous three months, tax revenue from imported cars at Taftan has increased at a record rate, according to Pakistan Customs. For the same period, tax revenue collected increased from 0.55 billion rupees in the previous year to Rs1.35 billion this year.
7,994 cars were registered the year before, bringing approximately Rs5.5 billion in revenue from taxes. This year, the number of vehicles registered increased slightly to 8,090, but the amount of tax collected increased dramatically to 9.6 billion rupees.
Customs officers credit cautious application of tax exemptions, precise weight measurement, and efficient evaluation for this enhanced performance. Despite a negligible increase in the number of registered vehicles, these actions have helped to contribute to the significant gain in revenue.
