According to a joint statement released by the government and EU delegation on Tuesday, the first-ever high-level EU-Pakistan Business Forum is due to take place in Islamabad from May 14–15 with the goal of strengthening business connections between Pakistan and the EU.
The EU is the world’s biggest single market and Pakistan’s top export destination. With 42% of worldwide outbound foreign direct investment, the EU is also the biggest foreign investor in the world.
“With a rapidly growing market of over 240 million people, competitive labor costs, strategic geographical access to Central and South Asia, and preferential trade access to the EU, Pakistan offers immense business opportunities,” the statement continued.
