ISLAMABAD: Pakistan has once again called for an impartial investigation into occurrences involving the theft and illegal sale of nuclear and other hazardous materials in India, expressing serious worries about the allegations of these incidents.
The claims of ongoing theft and illegal sales of nuclear and other hazardous items in India give Pakistan great alarm. According to Foreign Office Spokesperson Mumtaz Zahra Baloch, “In the most recent incident, a group of people were discovered in unlawful possession of a highly radioactive and toxic substance Californium, worth $100 million in quantity.” Baloch made this statement in answer to a question on Tuesday.
The arrest of a second group that was in possession of a highly radioactive and dangerous chemical, californium, was reported by the Indian media last week.Islamabad has insisted that New Delhi look into the regular “theft and illicit sale” of radioactive goods, including nuclear material, in India.
The FO spokesperson stated, “Three incidents of theft of Californianium were also reported in 2021.” She also mentioned that last month, five people from Dehradun were discovered in possession of a radioactive device that was purportedly taken from the Bhabha Atomic Research Center (BARC).
