ISLAMABAD: In place of numerical scores, the Ministry of Education has instituted a new grading scheme for the Secondary School Certificate (SSC) and Higher Secondary School Certificate (HSSC) exams. The system is based on grades.
The new SSC and HSSC exam system was introduced by the Inter Board Committee of Chairmen (IBCC), who stated that its goal is to advance “fairness, transparency, and accuracy in student evaluation.”
The board disclosed in its announcement that the gradual implementation, which will begin with the 2024 academic year, will initially apply to grades 9 (SSC) and 11 (HSSC).
However, in 2024–2025, universities will take into account both the old and new grading schemes when accepting applications. Colleges and institutions will solely use grades and CGPA starting in 2025.
“The old method of awarding will gradually be replaced by the new policy.”
