An agreement has been made between Pakistan and Iraq to enable Pakistani Muslims to go to Iraq for the major holy holiday of Arbaeen.
The agreement, which was reached at a high-level conference on Wednesday, calls for extra flights, a higher quota for pilgrims from Pakistan, and a waiver of visa fees.
Leading the discussions were Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi and Iraqi Ambassador Hamid Abbas Lafta. A number of significant decisions were made with the intention of reducing travel restrictions for Arbaeen, which is celebrated on the 10th of Muharram, also known as Chehlum, and marks 40 days after the martyrdom of Imam Hussain (A.S).
