LAHORE: Pakistan has joined the top ten global potato producers, with production increasing to more than eight million tonnes, The News reported Wednesday.
According to officials and farmers, the increase in potato production is due to expanded planting areas and better agricultural techniques.
The country, which ranks tenth in the world for potato output, has witnessed production increase by more than 35% in the last three years, from 5.87 million tonnes in 2020-21 to an expected 8.01 million tonnes in 2022-23.
