India was left hoping that longtime rivals Pakistan may save their hopes for a Women’s T20 World Cup after they were humiliated by the reigning champions Australia on Sunday by nine runs.
Australia won all four of their matches to secure their place in the semi-finals by leading Group A.
India, with four points from two victories and two losses, needs Pakistan to defeat New Zealand on Monday in order to exclude net run-rate from being used to determine the second semifinal spot.
However, a victory for the Kiwis will send them to the last four and eliminate India.
Harmanpreet Kaur, the captain of India, said, “It’s something which is not in our control.”
